CUSTOM DENTAL VENEERS IN PLEASANTON

WHAT ARE VENEERS?

Dental veneers are a sophisticated cosmetic solution that significantly enhances the appearance of your teeth. Custom-made to fit each individual, these shells are expertly designed to improve the color, shape, and overall aesthetics of your teeth, effectively closing gaps and repairing chips. Veneers come in two main types: porcelain and resin-based composite. Porcelain veneers are celebrated for their durability and superior quality, though they are more costly. In contrast, resin-based composite veneers are a more economical option but may require more frequent replacements due to their lesser durability. In Pleasanton, our dental clinic provides both options, helping patients choose the right type of veneers as a permanent solution to their cosmetic dental concerns.

WHO ARE VENEERS FOR?

Veneers are ideal for patients with persistent cosmetic dental issues who seek a transformative smile makeover. They offer an alternative to traditional orthodontic treatments like braces and retainers, as well as teeth whitening procedures. It’s important to note that veneers are a permanent treatment; part of the natural tooth enamel is removed during their placement, making this a lifelong commitment to enhanced aesthetics.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE PROCEDURE?

The procedure for veneers depends on the type chosen. For porcelain veneers, our Pleasanton dental team first removes a small amount of enamel for a precise fit, followed by taking an impression of your teeth. This occurs during the first visit, after which the custom veneers are crafted. In the subsequent appointment, these veneers are carefully adjusted and bonded to each tooth. Resin-based veneers involve a different process, where the teeth are cleaned and reshaped before the resin is sculpted directly onto them. This material is then hardened and polished for a natural finish. Post-procedure, follow-up appointments are crucial to ensure the veneers are comfortable and properly in place. Maintaining veneers involves good oral hygiene, similar to natural teeth, and avoiding foods that can cause damage or staining. With appropriate care, veneers can last up to a decade.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VENEERS, CROWNS, AND IMPLANTS?

Dental veneers, crowns, and implants all mimic the appearance of real teeth. However, their uses and placement vary. The biggest difference is the placement of each device. Dental veneers cover the front of a tooth as opposed to crowns which cover the entire tooth all around. Crowns are better used for teeth that have minimal structure left whereas veneers leave most of the tooth intact.
Implants are devices that bolt to the jawbone to replace teeth that are entirely missing. A cheaper alternative to missing teeth is to use a bridge, containing a crown on either side of a missing tooth, with a bridge, or fake tooth in the middle to bridge the gap.
The first step in the procedure is prep. A barrier gel will be applied so that your gums and lips are not affected by the treatment. After the barrier gel is applied, the teeth whitening gel is next. The gel is activated using a UV light allowing for rapid results. These steps are repeated multiple times every 15 minutes until desired results are achieved and you walk out with a brighter smile!
